In the year 2006 the finance office of my employer moved from one state to another. I had the options to leave the job or to move with the company. The upheaval of moving considering family commitments, housing, transportation, school for the kids were among the issues that had to be addressed.

My decision about housing was to purchase a new home rather than rent a property. The hurdles were many, the sacrifices were burdensome but I succeeded by the Grace of God. My mind was made up to buy a house, and things fell in place eventually. About 10 years later, as the staff members who moved with me, were assessing their consideration to rent, it was stated “Evette was right to purchase a house rather than to rent”.

Think Long Term

What happen over the 10 years had turn out to be a positive result for me because the housing conditions did not remain stagnant. Rent had, by that time, doubled in some cases, while mortgage payment remained the same. Added to that I was able to build an apartment to my house and am now a landlord, because I saw the trend in the housing sector, and was thinking long term, my success was assured.
