“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” Genesis 3: 15 NIV.
The God of Prevision

Prevision is the power to foresee the future. It is foresight, farsightedness, seeing ahead; knowing in advance; and foreseeing ability. God alone has perfect prevision.
Maybe you have been preparing for months to make Christmas an extra special occasion, that perfect morning. No amount of preparation you can make can be compared to that made by God for the very first Christmas.
The Scriptures tells you about all the preparation God made for the birth of his Son Jesus Christ. Through his preparation, he gave the perfect gift to humanity, the gift of salvation.
You will see in chapter 1 in both Matthew’s and Luke’s account of the gospel, the culmination of God’s plan for divinity to become flesh. It was no last minute preparation for that perfect Christmas. The birth of God’s Son was planned before the world began. The plan has been carefully and painstakingly advancing throughout the history of creation.
Hope After The Fall Of Man

The first hopeful glimmer of the eternal Christ child is in the opening of the book of Genesis in the words God spoke to Satan. That hope was given when your ancestors fall took place and it becomes even brighter and clearer as you trace the promise of Satan’s defeat throughout the Old Testament.
The last chapter of the Old Testament closes with the following statement, which is a prelude to the birth of Christ.
Malachi 4: 5 – 6 NIV says “See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.”
Prophetical Revelations

Through Gods word reminders of the promised child is given. In the book of Genesis God revealed that the promised Christ would be “the seed of a woman” (Genesis 3:15); a descendant of Abraham (Genesis 12:3); Isaac (Genesis 17:19) and Jacob (Genesis 28:14); of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10);
In the book of prophets it is given that Jesus will be of the family of David (2 Samuel 7:16; Psalm 89:34-37). His mother would be a virgin (Isaiah 7:14) the city of His birth would be Bethlehem (Micah 5:2) and the time of His presentation to Israel would be 483 years after the edict of Cyrus to rebuild Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25).
Times of Fading Hope

Malachi’s writing, the last book in the Old Testament, was during skeptical times for God chosen people. It was a time when almost everyone had given up hope of ever realizing the coming of the Messiah.
Apparently, the majority ceased to listen to God’s prophets. Feelings of isolation and confusion grew among the Jews during the more than 400 years of silence between the closing of the Old Testament and the opening of the New Testament.
Yet, God’s plan for Christ’s birth was very much alive. God is never really silent.
God Keeps His Promises

Luke 1: 13 – 14 NIV reads: “But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth”.
Luke opens his book with the record of the shattering 400 years of silence coming to an end. Luke begins his gospel precisely where Malachi left off. The final words of the Old Testament speak of the coming of one who would prepare the way for the Lord.
Luke records the angelic announcement of Gabriel to Zacharias, an elderly priest, that he and his wife will have a son, a son who will come in the spirit of Elijah the prophet, and who will turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and will prepare the way of the Lord. He was to be the fulfillment of Malachi’s prophecy.
God Sees Our Hearts

Luke 1: 6 – 7 NIV reads “Both of them were upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commandments and regulations blamelessly. But they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive, and they were both very old.“
The years of God’s silence concerning Zacharias’s personal desire for a son had taken its toll. The people considered them disgraced by God. The silence of those barren years was broken by the angelic announcement.
Zacharias and Elizabeth had gone through the silent barrenness with their faith in tact. Zacharias prayer had been heard. (1:13) The son’s name will be John, which means, “gift of God.” What a perfect gift.
Silence will always test your faith. When the possibilities of a natural birth was long gone they continue their faithfulness to God. They no longer believed they could have a son, but they remained faithfully attentive through the silence.
There are times when God wants to see how much confidence you have in Him, if you will persist in knocking on the door until it opens. The silence of waiting is not easy, but remember that God is working in the silence.
The Forerunner

The prophet Malachi added these words, “Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me; and the LORD, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; even the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight…” Malachi 3:1
Isaiah had spoken of John the Baptist, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord…” Isaiah 40:3. God prepared him in the wilderness far from the contamination of the current system.
God will prepare you while you are in your wilderness situation. He will feed you, provide water out of rocky places, let His presence go before you and His fiery protection will carry and comfort you during your long nights.
John became the messenger that went before Jesus. Luke 1: 16 – 17 tells us “He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
God is still in the business of bringing his children to Him, He is the Eternal Father. He is waiting to turn your heart from the darkness of this world to His light. Do hear His call today. If you have already answered the call I pray that you stay focused on Him.
